From our early days to today, explore the history, values, and people shaping Art Massif and our sustainable approach to mass timber construction.
Like the timber we work with, our story begins grounded in craft, care, and steady growth. What started as a small operation has become a trusted force in mass timber, built on experience and driven by purpose. Here’s how it all came together.
The foundation years
Founded in 2010 in Saint-Jean-Port-Joli, Art Massif grew from the founder’s residential roots, carrying the same commitment to quality into its first commercial projects. That commitment continues to define the company today.
Growth
The early years saw rapid growth. An engineer joined just two years after founding, certification followed within four years, and the company outgrew its space three times before opening the Québec City office in 2014.
Investment and Plant Expansion
In 2019, a major investment expanded the plant by 10,000 ft² and added an exceptional TechnoWood CNC machine, increasing capacity, automation, and innovation. This milestone marked one of several ongoing investments supporting projects across Canada and the United States.
Global Expansion
In 2025, Art Massif marks its 15th anniversary with over 500 projects completed since its founding. A major plant expansion adds 10,000 ft² and an in-house dryer, increasing autonomy, improving quality control, and positioning the company for continued global growth.
Tomorrow and Beyond
Looking ahead, our mission is to support North American clients who push beyond standard forms. By continuing to innovate, we aim to meet increasingly complex needs and expand the possibilities of mass timber on a global scale.
At Art Massif, sustainability is central to our craft. From sourcing wood responsibly to minimizing waste and contributing to our communities, we work to ensure every structure leaves a positive, lasting impact.
Our mass timber is sourced from Canadian forests, recognized worldwide for their sustainable management, with most areas SFI-certified. We use a formaldehyde-free adhesive with no odor, and our finishes are low-VOC, water-based, or natural-oil-based to reduce environmental impact.
We minimize waste at every stage of production. Wood offcuts are repurposed or recycled, and by-products are redirected to secondary markets, reducing landfill use and extending the life of every resource we harvest.
Since its launch, we have supported the Le Semoir initiative, which inspires young people to become eco-citizens through hands-on workshops. Over 1,550 students in 36 Quebec schools have participated. We also support local causes and events that strengthen our community.
At Art Massif, we create spaces for a sustainable future and seek mission-driven, passionate people we can build with and learn from.
